Go ahead, be rude., you already are. It's not your first time and won't be the last time.
Election laws aside. Are you saying you can ignore candidates' all previous behaviors and vote for them only based on their presentation on the election day? What's the point to have such presentations at the polling station? Obviously it's for the purpose of influencing voters' behavior right before them casting their vote. You neeed to respect voter's ability to make their own choices and give them a peaceful polling place to think by themselves. I don't know if you ever voted in this country. Have you ever seen a polling environment as bad as at HXNY?

Over the past year, Professor Jun Lin has played a leading role for the successful school education reform, which is supported by the majority of HXNY members. Jun leveraged his expertise on reform management and teaching experience to establish the education evaluation system for the school.
Based on the tracking records and the working plans presented at the board meeting, there is no doubt that Lin/Yao is the best team candidate to lead the school for the continuous education quality improvement in the next school year. As an entrusted board director, I vote on the best interest of all children in our school.
Other than that, I’d like to express my appreciations to all candidates for their willingness to serve our school as volunteers.

Statement from Ching Zhou
"My long stated vision for a better hxny are 1) productive learning, 2) responsive governance, 3) inclusive community.
To reach that, I look for following qualities in potential leaders: a) leadership, b) credentials a/o professionalism, c) uniting power.
Along these lines, the choice is obvious for an unbiased eye, the Lin/Yao team is the best fit for Today's HXNY. Both are relatively new to the school with little burdens of past, Professor Lin understands corporate governance, and as a reform expert has played a leading role in the long-waited popular education reform at HXNY this year that includes not only giving members choices in textbooks, but also introducing a systematic (teaching/learning) evaluation methodology. He's in the best position to advance the education reform at HXNY that has already seen substantial impact on our children and will certainly be crucial for the future success of our school.
I appreciate all candidates for their willness to serve the school. As a HXNY stakeholder and as a board member entrusted to work for the best interest of all our children, I don't believe HXNY can afford to be lead by controversial figures at this time.
I thank all the candidates for their willingness to serve our school . After presentation of all nominees, I felt they all have the ability and enthusiasm to manage our school. However according to the current bylaw and court order, the board has to approve no more than two pairs of candidates for general election. Although I don't agree with this rule, I have to follow it. I hope in future the Board is not allowed to pre-screen candidates.
I approved Mr. Yang Dai/ Mr. Liang Cao and Mr. Chaochi Tien/Mr. Michael Sun because they have been outstanding members of HXNY school over a long period of time. They have proven track records of outstanding volunteer service to our school. They are the upright and honest individuals. They can work with others with or without the same ideas. I think their personality and courage will lead our school out of the current crisis and bring a fresh air and unity to our community.
I ddi not vote for Mr. Tao Liang. He is a very good candidate; however he has no partner as PC chair candidate, which is a requirement of the current Bylaws
I did not vote Jun Lin/Dachun Yao. I thank Mr. Jun Lin for his work on evaluation methodology of teaching effectiveness and Mr. Dacun Yao for his work at PTA. However, as current school leaders, they have been actively engaged controversial activities, some of which were against relevant laws and led our school into the chaos and crisis. I think our school needs new school leaders with less baggage at this stage. I hope Mr. Jun Lin and Mr. Dachun Yao will contribute to HXNY in other capacities.
I believe my decision is in the best interest of our school and hope you agree with me. Together we can move in the right direction and make HXNY better.
However, as current school leaders, they have been actively engaged controversial activities, some of which were against relevant laws and led our school into the chaos and crisis. I think our school needs new school leaders with less baggage at this stage.
============================================ Zhu Li accuses Lin/Chao actively engaged controversial activities. Where is the evidence? Evidence is plenty for Dai and Tien actively engaged controversial activities since last year. And Dai and Tien don't resemble anything like "new school leaders with less baggage at this stage".
We have four groups of candidates running for school leader positions this year. Many thanks for their willingness to serve our school. Per the 2010 Bylaws and the court Order, the board can only nominate up to two pairs of candidates.
The candidates presented many good ideas as to how to manage the school, and how to lead the school out of the current crisis. All expressed support to continue the education reform, and revealed their eagerness to serve the members.
Chaochi Tien started his presentation with a very touching question: Why those people are smiling, while he was showing photos of early years’ school teams. His answer is plain and simple: They are proud of themselves as volunteers. The person who understands this understands what had been supporting the school, and what it takes to lead the school forward. Chaochi Tien himself had demonstrated this by his over 5 years dedicated contributions as a school admin team member. Take one example along, he worked over a month, every night to midnight, almost singled-handily implemented our school’s first ever online registration system. Since then, he had been instrumental in many years’ school registrations work, with many more hours dedicated to our children and members. Anybody respect the facts will count Chaochi as one top contributor in our school’s history. Another fact is that he had been doing all those quietly. Members who benefited from his years’ efforts shall be grateful of a real volunteer who care our school. His in depth familiarity of school’s operations assured me of his capability to run the school. Further more, the honesty and selflessness ChaoChi Tien demonstrated shall help him connects with members. His vision to rebuild school by rebuild trust can only be achieved by leader with integrity. His partner Michael Sun’s goal to give students a peaceful desk was supported by his courage to set rule first to himself, and his clearly stated objectives.
Yang Dai surprised me with a big table showing all the details school after school what textbooks they are using, from grade to grade, and what transition textbooks in place to help. His family successfully educated two children who can read about thousand Chinese characters and read adult Chinese novels when entering the school 1st grade. He is running for the principle position with the hope to educate more students with right techniques and right textbooks. He plans to continue many reforms in place this year, and proposed many practical ways to further students interests in Chinese learning. Most importantly, Yang Dai showed people his leadership in managing school as an organization that focus on education. He has a clear mind on what needs to be done, and what is the most important. He thinks the principal shall understand the role, and respect other teams. His approach to promote dialogue vs confrontation shall be a practical way to lead school out of crisis. His partner Liang Cao showed his capability to bring people together.
Here is a side note on Mr. Tao Liang. He demonstrated strong leadership skills, but his lack of PC Chair partner would lead to a school structure without PC Chair next year. I think it is not responsible to the school, and not in the good faith to nominate the partial candidate. Further more, by doing so; one will violate the 2010 Bylaws 8.01.3 that clearly request the board to nominate the PC Chair for member’s election.
Thanks again for all candidates. I believe all your ideas and thoughts will benefit our school.
First I want to thank all the candidates for standing up to serve the school.
My decision was based on the consideration of three aspects: vision and strategy, dedication, and leadership and willingness to compromise to rebuild the trust. Under the special circumstance of the school, I think Dai/Cao and Tien /Sun offer the best package among the candidates. They presented outstanding vision and strategy including support of diversity of teaching materials and education reform. They have demonstrated dedication as volunteers in the past. They have committed not to step out of their boundary of responsibilities and show strong willingness to seek compromise among different opinions. I am convinced that they offer the best possibility of a fresh start and rebuilding of trust that will eventually lead the school to peace and continued success.

I agree. Yawen Liu as PC Chair is under TRO and still approve what PC and Zuojun Cao are doing is a clear violation of TRO. Dapeng Hu as Principal to publish the removal of Board Chairman is also a clear violation of TRO. Also, every classroom and the whole school posted "remove Zhu Li" notice last Sunday is also a direct violation of TRO. So Hu, Liu, Lin Li, Cao Zuojun, Wang Liang will either get a fine, or more seriously, they will be put into jail if the judge got made at their violation of the court order.
晓京就别肉麻地护着你的“朱君”了。“朱君”是不会放弃董事席位， 直道他拿到学校给他的5万。极力保护戴/田上位只是他从学校偷钱的第一步。而且一旦他SECURE THE FUNDING, 他会更肆无忌惮地把学校拖入官司的深渊。等你看到他一点一点地把学校榨干，戴／田为报恩为他大开方便之门，你就知道你的“朱君”及同伙是什么货色，但到时已太晚。
"Dai/Cao pair are more popular than Lin/Yao. That's an undisputed fact." Are you kidding me? or kidding yourself? Had the Lin/Yao not been blocked out for dirty political motivations, had their names been on the ballot, everybody knows what would be the result.
The vote has been done. It is pointless to do any guesses based on any numbers of assumptions. Any pairs of candidates has their own support and that is it. Congratulations to the winner and show our grateful to all the candidates for their willingness to serve the community.
I think the next step, a fair step, should be some or all resignations from the board and the current admin/PTA numbers for the chaos.
First, congratulations to Dai/Cao team for winning the election. Clearly, like last year, many parents do not care who win the Principal/PC Chair, they just want to make sure the school would stay open next year. At this point, I'm willing to forget and forgive what Dai Yang did before and give him the benefit of the doubt. It was on the same basis I initially supported Hu/Liu team after 6/19/2011 election. The election was flawed, but it was not the fault of the candidates. However, to win my and I believe many other parents' wholehearted support, Dai/Cao team needs to prove, like Hu/Liu team has done, that they work for the benefit of the whole school, not just for their own faction.
Second, congratulations to Lin/Yao team for getting 147 write-in vote which was only 15 votes less than the winning team. There is no doubt that had their names been on the official ballot, they would have won the majority vote. It's a proof that by premeditated blocking of the Lin/Yao team, the 4 board members did not act in the best interests of the school and failed to perform their fiduciary duties.
Let the fact speak for itself that HXNY never had a free and fair election. It is especially appalling that unfair election happened again after last year's turmoil. The parents at HXNY deserve better.
It's also an unmistakable fact that Hu/Liu went to court to defend the legitimate 4/15 Bylaws voting result. The 4 board members must stop spreading lies that Hu/Liu did it for their own personal benefit. In contrast to Hu/Liu's lawsuit, the 4 board members' lawsuit against Hu/Liu seeks nothing but personal destruction and preservation of their own power. They could not even defend their own "Special Voting Committee"s behavior and had to admit that their voting result was tainted. Their request to have a court observed re-vote of the "2012 Bylaws" is totally pointless. Anyone following the Bylaws amendment process knows that unless the "Limited Voting" is taken out, the "2012 Bylaws" would never be able to pass, no matter how many times it's voted. The parents at HXNY want to have a free and fair election for the Board and do not want a voting method that benefits only factions.
Although I trust the American justice system and believe that the court will ultimately make the right decisions, I certainly hope that the newly elected Principal/PC Chair team, especially Dai Yang, would break away from their past pattern of closely toeing the faction lines and help the four board members to face the facts. The four board members need to publicly admit and apologize for their wrong doings during and after the 4/15 vote and retract their numerous slandering statements against Hu/Liu. Only by doing so, we could restart the Bylaws amendment process and start a healing process for the school.
Li Xing conveniently omitted a couple of important facts: 1. Hu/Liu lied to parents and the Court about their intention to run for election last year. 2. Even at this late stage of the academic year, a couple of people are organizing an impeachment vote on the last of day school. What good will this impeachment be for the school?
Don't you see 147 people "intentionally" void their votes just to express their supports for Lin and protests for the "board decision", each of them knows their votes will not be counted "officially".
"你们这些人划线分明,阶级斗争的旋绷得很紧" It was the "majority of the board" manipulated the rule and chose candidates along the party line. This is a pre-determined election from beginning. I think it's a shame/pity for HXNY that so many people have to use this unusual way to express their opinions.
1. Zhu Li lied to the court by omitting last year's settlement and by omitting the 3/18 vote on education reform. When did Hu/Liu lie about their intention not automatically go to board last year? They stated multiple times this year they support free election, not 'limited voting' though. 2. Impeachment or not, that's parents' rights, has nothing to do with Hu/Liu. It's not up to you to dictate what's good for the school. ======================================

if we want to have a good, peaceful school, we need to stop fighting. Obey the law, and be a good citizen. ************************************************************* The problem is that the school administration and PC just could not concede when their only hope was not granted by the Board of Directors who voted for fair and square choice out of their hearts. Sure enough, on election day, the admin head (Lin Li, the interim principal) was spreading flyer, supporting Lin/Yao and defaming Dai and Tian teams, in campus to disturb the election, calling people to "WRITE IN" their pair, spreading untrue accusations on the candidates. This is their definition of "fair election". She also personally brought in inch-thick proxy to prove her point.
It is already nothing new that the current administration and PC gang up against anybody standing in their way. Only "Their Choice" is the "People's Choice". Calling for "democracy" but exercising "Communism" is exactly why they demonstrate to the members.
Good question. Candidates paid money to the 4 board members, and the 4 board members found them to be the best qualified for the job. You tell me, are we in U.S. or China?
Zhu Li is arguably the most consistent, steadfast and principled based leader throughout this crisis.
He was opposed to the illegal election of Hu/Liu staged by the five Board members last year. He defended school Bylaws this year.
Zhu Li is an honorable, dedicated, selfless parent who has served tirelessly for our school for years and has never asked for any personal favor from school.
He is a true gentleman. We are fortunate to have him as the Chairman of the Board.

Our family has been with HXNY for 3 years(My child is in 2nd grade MLP). Yao DaChun is our class parent. The individual candidate Liang Tao's child is also in this class. My child had exactly same experience on studying Chinese as his child. We have talked to previous Admin teams / Board members for several times and seems they have no motivations to do any reforms. We would have had transferred our child to other school who can offer other choices, had we not been approached by Hu Dapeng/Liu Yawen with the ideas of education reform. That was the only reason we voted for them last year and I think they have kept their promises and they did real good things for the future of the school. We voted for LinJun/Yao Dachun this time, I know big percentage of parents of my child's class voted for them too, even knowing their name is not on the ballot. I think many of us are tired of the politic fights in this school, we make judgments by what we think is the best for our children. I'd ask how the new members voices can be heard loudly and how can new members more actively involved in the important decision making process of this school.
Your voice has already been heard, please don't stir up another mess and you can get involved to become the class parents and join the PTA. Don't write here anonymously. Please call the new Principal/PC chair to volunteer. It is not good to write blog for Liang Tao/Jun Lin/Yao Dachun/Hu Dapeng/Liu Yawen such as the one above. Because if all you want is to continue to have Ma Liping and get involved, there is more positive way of doing it instead writing anonymously. By the way, the new administration also supports Ma Liping, so don't worry about it if that is your only concern without any other hidden agenda. Thank you.
Parents, when you are having trouble to decide on which class you should enroll your children to for next year, MLP, standard Chinese or America Chinese...., please remember, back to one year ago, you didn't have such headache because you only have one choice, alternatives were out of question. Many times, here at HXNY, you think that would be the simple,natural things, they can't happen unless you do something for it.
Thank you Ching Zhou for your advice. Can't believe you are still pissing on this blog. Hope your wife is still coming back to teach Ma Liping. She sworn she won't come back last year to the whole school. However, the temptation is too big from Ma Liping so she returned. How about next year? We represent 185 members of HXNY who have signed a petition to impeach and remove the Chairman of the Board, Li Zhu. First of all, we would like to state that our solicitation of this petition from the membership was self-organized by the members, unrelated to any of our official volunteer work done for the school, and was not directed by nor involved with Principal Hu, PC Chair Liu or any of the minority board members, Minghui Lei, Shengjing Li and Ching Zhou. Since the number of petitions has satisfied the twenty percent (20%) required to call for a special meeting of all members, we request such meeting be held on June 24th to vote on the impeachment and removal of Li Zhu from the board of directors. We request the vice chairmen of the Parent Council send out a meeting notice to all members today, June 14th, which shall satisfy the notice requirement under New York State Non-For-Profit Law Section 605(a). Our petition to impeach and remove Li Zhu is due to the following reasons:
1. Earlier in the school year, recognizing members' desire to improve education quality at our school and to enhance children's interest in learning Chinese language, the school Admin team led by Principal Hu actively worked with teachers, parents and other education experts seeking to improve education quality of our school. Li Zhu disassociated himself with such activities and when Principal Hu called for a vote of the membership to direct the school to implement education reform, Li Zhu led the majority board members in an effort to stop the vote. In the end, the members voted overwhelmingly for the education reform (342 to 76 in favor). This is a vote with the highest voter turnout in the history of HXNY.
2. Li Zhu and three other board members formed their own illegitimate committee to conduct a separate vote on the proposed new bylaws in direct contradiction of then existing bylaws. Principal Hu and PC Chair Liu, seeking to avoid court intervention, presented an opinion letter from an outside law firm that concluded Li Zhu and three other board members' actions exceed their authorities. Li Zhu (i) ignored the opinion letter and the voting results of the legitimate vote of the school members, (ii) conducted a separate vote on the proposed bylaws, (iii) even concocted false board minutes stating the Board of Directors accepted the results of their illegitimate separate vote and threw the school's operative bylaws into question. This is a wanton disregard for the law.
3. After a legal action was filed against Li Zhu and three other board members by Principal Hu and PC Chair Liu to have the court declare the operative bylaws of the school, Li Zhu and three other board members frantically asked members to sign a petition to withdraw the lawsuit. Unbeknown to the members, the petition was used to file another action against others and to demand payments of legal fees ($50,000) from the school. Li Zhu's answer and counter-claims submitted to the court contain numerous material false statements that contradict with the school records.
4. Last Sunday, Li Zhu and three other board members colluded and vetoed the most qualified principal and PC chair candidates, Dr. Jun Lin and Dr. Dachun Yao, for the next school year in a retaliation against the school Admin team to achieve personal vendetta against Principal Hu and his education reform. Dr. Lin is a professional educator and current Associate Dean who initiated the education reform at our school and led the education assessment effort. Li Zhu gave no consideration to the school's long term interest and acted in direct violation of the TRO against him issued by the court that ordering Li Zhu to stop breaching his fiduciary duties to the school.
We believe the school will function better without Li Zhu and his disruptive actions. We urge the members to come to vote on June 24th to impeach and remove Li Zhu.
There will be no chaos if only one person is involved. To impeach one person , with merit or not, will not solve the problem completely!
To give the new elected team a fair and noiseless environment to perform, all the old supposed "leaderships", which I don't believe either one deserve it anyway, including board, Admin and PTA, should come out to show your good faith to the school.
The true leadership, which most of the members want, I believe, should have show constrain/tolerance, intelligence and integrity to lead the school out of the chaos, at least did not make it worse. We did not see that kind of leadership happened from either one of the people with status quo.
All of the old, failed parties should resign immediately!
If they all resign, I believe the members will have no problem to elect any numbers of directors to take care of the school. === Based on what? The Bylaws doesn't say members can elect Board members.
Director can resign according to the bylaw. == Based on the Bylaws, the school must have Board directors. Who would be on that Board after current Board directors resign? The Bylaws doesn't say members can elect Board members.

The 2012-2013 HXNY Principal/PC Chair election was held successfully on June 17, 2012. Below are the election results:
Total Ballots Received: 378, including 90 proxy votes
Total Valid Ballots: 231 Invalid Ballots: 147
Yang Dai/Liang Cao: 160 Chao-Chi Tien/ Michael Sun: 71
Therefore, we declare that Yang Dai has been elected as the Principal and Liang Cao as the PC Chair for the 2012-2013 academic year. Congratulations!
Here we would like to thank other candidates for their willingness to serve our school and community. We also would like to thank the election committee and many other volunteers to help make this election a success.

The 185 members who petitioned to impeach and remove Li Zhu have postponed the all members’ meeting to July 8th (see notification letter below). Per impeachment organizers' request, the Parent Council hereby notify all members the changed date and time of such all members’ meeting:

We represent 185 members who petitioned to impeach and remove the Chairman of the Board, Li Zhu. At the request of some members to receive written notification of the impeachment by mail and in order to give enough time to mail the notification, we hereby delay the all members' meeting for impeachment and removal of Li Zhu from the Board of Directors to Sunday, July 8th, 10am-12pm. The location will be changed to Room CLA 200. We request PTA send email notice to all members to notify the changes in meeting time and location followed by sending meeting notification by mail.
- We have 185 members who signed the petition to impeach Zhu Li. The number is bigger than the votes Dai Yang was getting. So I would question the phrase “small portion” you used in your email.
- Second I want to reiterate why we impeach Zhu Li. 1) Zhu Li started an illegal vote which led to the law suit. 2) Zhu Li sued HXNY and tried to force our school to pay for his legal bill. 3) Zhu Li deprived parents right and screened out the most qualified candidates who got 147 write-in votes. we believe what Zhu Li did is inappropriate, damaging to our school, and he should be removed from his post as the Chairman of Board.
- As you see above, we have reasons to impeach Zhu Li and “hatred” is not one of them. Did we behave like we have “hatred”? I don’t think so. We do our job, we volunteer in school activities, we support our teachers and children, we contribute to education reform, we voice our opinions, and we take actions to improve our school. You cannot label “hatred” whenever someone disagrees with you.
- So what should you do next? First of all, calm down. Then start calling parents to see if they are okay to contribute their tuition to pay for Zhu Li’s legal bill, if they are okay to let Zhu Li decide the next principal for them, if they are okay to let Zhu Li ignore the bylaw whenever the result does not go his way, and if they are okay to let Zhu Li decide the text books for their children. You should work very hard on this because it will be very embarrassing if even a “small portion” can win a 2/3 majority.
- I believe “ emotional” is a more accurate word than “hatred” here. You should really sit back and read the following email thread and your own email. You can see who is more “emotional”.

If dropping the impeachment of Zhu Li is the condition for the two principal candidates to organize more volunteers for the field day, then we parents already lost hope for next year.
If there is not enough volunteers and those with their own children participating the track and field day are not willing to be volunteers, then for the safety of the children, we should just cancel the track and field game. I think parents will understand that, under the current environment of the school, cancelling the event for lack of volunteers is a sensible thing to do.

I wish to believe that you forwarded this email to impeach a legitimate Board Chairman out of your strong personal beliefs and your best possible intentions for the school. I respect your opinion. However, I must disagree with such an extreme action at this critical time in our school. I hope you do not take the following personally.
I, for one, believe that what Li Zhu and others did was to follow the 2010 Bylaws. They were forced by Dapeng Hu/Yawen Liu's lawsuit to comply with this old version the Bylaws. They also stated multiple times that they support the proposed education reforms, including textbook diversification. Impeaching Li Zhu would not alleviate any of the grievances in the letter you forwarded.
If you think the root cause of the current crisis was the Board, there was a much better way to get rid of all the Board members, including Li Zhu, and prevent unfair automatic entry into the Board without an election, by implementing the new Bylaws. I hope you have voted for the new Bylaws. You also know what has happened to the new Bylaws...
The current unfortunate dispute has entered legal proceedings initiated by Dapeng Hu/Yawen Liu. In my opinion, it would be best for our school to follow the Court order to have an obstruction-free and orderly election this coming Sunday, June 17. Stirring up an impeachment not only will interfere with the legally scheduled election on Sunday but also will further jeopardize the future of our school.
If this impeachment were successful, it would only escalate the dispute rather than diffuse the tension in our school. There would be no complete list of legally elected school leaders for next year. Our children might not even have a Chinese school to go to... Who will lose and who will gain?
In summary, I am strongly against impeaching Li Zhu at this critical time of our school. If parents are unhappy with the Board, there is a better way to voice our opinions and exercise our rights by electing the entire Board. Unfortunately, this Board election is temporarily blocked by the Hu/Liu lawsuit...

Are you sure you are replying to right thread? I'm suggesting all board members, all candidates(in addition to Dai/Cao) come out to serve as volunteers for this track & field event.
From the complaints provided to the court, I do not believe the statement of "It's an unmistakable fact that Hu/Liu went to court to defend the legitimate 4/15 Bylaws voting result."!
I still believe that the 2 groups who filed lawsuits against each other both have their own arguments. Nobody can, should, claim that his group is doing the god's job!!!

"My long stated vision for a better hxny are 1) productive learning, 2) responsive governance, 3) inclusive community.
To reach that, I look for following qualities in potential leaders: a) leadership, b) credentials a/o professionalism, c) uniting power.
Along these lines, the choice is obvious for an unbiased eye, the Lin/Yao team is the best fit for Today's HXNY. Both are relatively new to the school with little burdens of past, Professor Lin understands corporate governance, and as a reform expert has played a leading role in the long-waited popular education reform at HXNY this year that includes not only giving members choices in textbooks, but also introducing a systematic (teaching/learning) evaluation methodology. He's in the best position to advance the education reform at HXNY that has already seen substantial impact on our children and will certainly be crucial for the future success of our school.
I appreciate all candidates for their willness to serve the school.
As a HXNY stakeholder and as a board member entrusted to work for the best interest of all our children, I don't believe HXNY can afford to be lead by controversial figures at this time.

Delete众所周知，我们的HXNY目前处于一种极其特殊的状态。在TRO的限制下，我们失去了本来可以不受刷选提名让候选人直接参选三会的机会。现在我们必须严格遵守旧的BYLAW，因为任何不遵守旧的BYLAW的行为都有可能被追究法律责任，希望大家理解。
在我看来，三对半的候选人的演讲都不错。我由衷感谢他们的奉献精神。特别是梁涛，他的演讲简短精练， 是一个很好的候选人。可是，按照旧的BYLAW的有关规定，我们只能通过成“对”的候选人，所以我无法给梁涛投赞同票。
为甄别其他三对候选人的执行能力，我给候选人提了如下问题：
第一个问题：“现在越来越多的学生对考SATII中文和AP中文感兴趣，候选人对此有何看法和打算？”我认为田兆基对这个问题答的最到位，其次是戴扬，而林俊的回答比较含糊，无法让我满意。
第二个问题是给林俊和姚大纯的：“你们在演讲中提到你们当选后会通过各种途径化解学校危机。你们一个是校委会的，一个是家长会的，你们今年为化解危机具体作了哪些事情？”我没有得到让我满意的回答。
因此，我投了田兆基 和戴扬二对候选人的赞成票。

I thank all the candidates for their willingness to serve our school . After presentation of all nominees, I felt they all have the ability and enthusiasm to manage our school. However according to the current bylaw and court order, the board has to approve no more than two pairs of candidates for general election. Although I don't agree with this rule, I have to follow it. I hope in future the Board is not allowed to pre-screen candidates.
I approved Mr. Yang Dai/ Mr. Liang Cao and Mr. Chaochi Tien/Mr. Michael Sun because they have been outstanding members of HXNY school over a long period of time. They have proven track records of outstanding volunteer service to our school. They are the upright and honest individuals. They can work with others with or without the same ideas. I think their personality and courage will lead our school out of the current crisis and bring a fresh air and unity to our community.
I ddi not vote for Mr. Tao Liang. He is a very good candidate; however he has no partner as PC chair candidate, which is a requirement of the current Bylaws
I did not vote Jun Lin/Dachun Yao. I thank Mr. Jun Lin for his work on evaluation methodology of teaching effectiveness and Mr. Dacun Yao for his work at PTA. However, as current school leaders, they have been
actively engaged controversial activities, some of which were against relevant laws and led our school into the chaos and crisis. I think our school needs new school leaders with less baggage at this stage. I hope Mr. Jun Lin and Mr. Dachun Yao will contribute to HXNY in other capacities.

DeleteWe have four groups of candidates running for school leader positions this year. Many thanks for their willingness to serve our school. Per the 2010 Bylaws and the court Order, the board can only nominate up to two pairs of candidates.
The candidates presented many good ideas as to how to manage the school, and how to lead the school out of the current crisis. All expressed support to continue the education reform, and revealed their eagerness to serve the members.
Chaochi Tien started his presentation with a very touching question: Why those people are smiling, while he was showing photos of early years’ school teams. His answer is plain and simple: They are proud of themselves as volunteers. The person who understands this understands what had been supporting the school, and what it takes to lead the school forward. Chaochi Tien himself had demonstrated this by his over 5 years dedicated contributions as a school admin team member. Take one example along, he worked over a month, every night to midnight, almost singled-handily implemented our school’s first ever online registration system. Since then, he had been instrumental in many years’ school registrations work, with many more hours dedicated to our children and members. Anybody respect the facts will count Chaochi as one top contributor in our school’s history. Another fact is that he had been doing all those quietly. Members who benefited from his years’ efforts shall be grateful of a real volunteer who care our school. His in depth familiarity of school’s operations assured me of his capability to run the school. Further more, the honesty and selflessness ChaoChi Tien demonstrated shall help him connects with members. His vision to rebuild school by rebuild trust can only be achieved by leader with integrity. His partner Michael Sun’s goal to give students a peaceful desk was supported by his courage to set rule first to himself, and his clearly stated objectives.
Yang Dai surprised me with a big table showing all the details school after school what textbooks they are using, from grade to grade, and what transition textbooks in place to help. His family successfully educated two children who can read about thousand Chinese characters and read adult Chinese novels when entering the school 1st grade. He is running for the principle position with the hope to educate more students with right techniques and right textbooks. He plans to continue many reforms in place this year, and proposed many practical ways to further students interests in Chinese learning. Most importantly, Yang Dai showed people his leadership in managing school as an organization that focus on education. He has a clear mind on what needs to be done, and what is the most important. He thinks the principal shall understand the role, and respect other teams. His approach to promote dialogue vs confrontation shall be a practical way to lead school out of crisis. His partner Liang Cao showed his capability to bring people together.
Here is a side note on Mr. Tao Liang. He demonstrated strong leadership skills, but his lack of PC Chair partner would lead to a school structure without PC Chair next year. I think it is not responsible to the school, and not in the good faith to nominate the partial candidate. Further more, by doing so; one will violate the 2010 Bylaws 8.01.3 that clearly request the board to nominate the PC Chair for member’s election.
Thanks again for all candidates. I believe all your ideas and thoughts will benefit our school.

My decision was based on the consideration of three aspects: vision and strategy, dedication, and leadership and willingness to compromise to rebuild the trust. Under the special circumstance of the school, I think Dai/Cao and Tien /Sun offer the best package among the candidates. They presented outstanding vision and strategy including support of diversity of teaching materials and education reform. They have demonstrated dedication as volunteers in the past. They have committed not to step out of their boundary of responsibilities and show strong willingness to seek compromise among different opinions. I am convinced that they offer the best possibility of a fresh start and rebuilding of trust that will eventually lead the school to peace and continued success.

郑顾团当选校长，首次破坏华夏历史校委会和家长会团结合作的传统，首次在学期末拒绝与家长会一起开感谢志愿者的联欢会。以至后来不得不改成校长和家长会成对选举。
黄英竞选校长时，家长明确提出教材问题，马力平教材被明确提名。其当选后，对此置之不理，拿出一个I-Chinese 糊弄家长。装模作用成立几个task force 研究教改。最后全都不了了之，没有下文。
汪元朱立当选，首创夫妻任正副校长，华夏开始第一次文革。
胡刘当选，几个月之内开通马力平及美洲华语新教材，打破了教材改革难行的千年神话。
历史的经验值得注意。由以上可以看出，朱李帮当选，华夏灾难难免。
戴扬，田肇基还没上台就搞了那么多事。真上了台，还不知道要闹出多少事呢。

我号召明天去选校长，我反对弹劾朱董事长。
（本文的立论多是从去年风波里抄来的。领衔主演及亲友团成员，活跃了一年，在踢踢打打的呛人风尘里，家长看到的皆是熟悉面孔。）
我号召去明天选新校长，借用前董事长去年的话：“ We encourage all parents to come to vote and make your voice heard. ”现任领导（前校长/会长候选人）去年说的得更诚恳：“It is quite clear to us that having a legitimate election is the only way to end this chaos. 某个匿名公开信说得更精辟：“支持Board, 选出校长，就是华夏重生之时！”
好了，在本学年结束之前及时选出新校长，看来是大家的共识。
说几句筛选候选人。今年被筛选掉的那对候选人，都是优秀家长。看到他们落选，我很遗憾。不过认真读了四位董事的解释，我觉得他们的考虑也有道理，而且董事们在行使合法权力。
看到那三个董事的“解释”，我倒困惑了：这三位像去年一样只挑了一对候选人，似乎并不想给家长选择的权力；而且，他们只字未提为何要拒绝其他两对优秀候选人。然而正是他们力促给“全面解释”筛选候选人的理由，他们自己的解释却不全面。白纸黑字，大家看着判断吧。
另外，XX当不上校长或当不上会长，学校就“危在旦夕”了？这也太不尊重广大辛勤的家长和敬业的老师了。这句荒唐语，虽没有多少人当真，可是有人依然执意利用优秀家长为其政治拉大旗，非要在毕业典礼的时候玩弹劾董事长的游戏。
罢免朱董事长，真有点儿无厘头。他稀罕董事长的职位吗？朱君早希望赶紧卸任，交权给家长来普选董事。是谁强行留住了董事长？正是那些“积极要求进步”的权力斗士。
我反对弹劾朱董事长。反弹劾的论点，也可以从去年的弹药库里借用。
今年罢免主力H女士，去年就写下了《为董事长辩护》的标准语：“我们要成熟理智地解决问题，为我们的孩子做出榜样。”“让我们一起来选出新校长，向弹劾说“不”！ ”“我收集给董事会支持的proxy。”现任校领导去年更是理智得惊人：“我们生活在一个法律社会。对遵循章程而得出的结果不能靠搞运动去推翻。”“弹劾带来学校运作的不确定性...加深伤痕， 加剧分裂。”（参见胡/刘 《反对弹劾，和平解决问题, 争取共赢》Sat, 7/16/11, ）
可惜，有些人的言与行，却是“花开两朵、各表一枝”。
搞运动就搞运动吧，能不能敬业点，别偷懒？今年倡议罢免董事长的签名数字，跟去年一模样，“185个签名”！H女士真是活雷锋，她去年的见解，正好质疑她们今年的行为。她去年说：“任何人如果声称自己有足够签名都可以展开弹劾。我们应该要求公开那些人的签名，这样才会公正和公平，并为学校将来发展打下基础。”
晒晒一些人去年的慷慨言论，我的策略是“草船借箭”，以子之矛攻子之盾。不过这招也会失灵，如果你不幸遇到的是极品人士。总之，弹劾董事长，我希望是本学年群众运动的“最后一枪”。这“最后一枪”，很有可能卡壳, 或者炸着自个儿，要小心啊。

First, congratulations to Dai/Cao team for winning the election. Clearly, like last year, many parents do not care who win the Principal/PC Chair, they just want to make sure the school would stay open next year. At this point, I'm willing to forget and forgive what Dai Yang did before and give him the benefit of the doubt. It was on the same basis I initially supported Hu/Liu team after 6/19/2011 election. The election was flawed, but it was not the fault of the candidates. However, to win my and I believe many other parents' wholehearted support, Dai/Cao team needs to prove, like Hu/Liu team has done, that they work for the benefit of the whole school, not just for their own faction.
Second, congratulations to Lin/Yao team for getting 147 write-in vote which was only 15 votes less than the winning team. There is no doubt that had their names been on the official ballot, they would have won the majority vote. It's a proof that by premeditated blocking of the Lin/Yao team, the 4 board members did not act in the best interests of the school and failed to perform their fiduciary duties.
Let the fact speak for itself that HXNY never had a free and fair election. It is especially appalling that unfair election happened again after last year's turmoil. The parents at HXNY deserve better.
It's also an unmistakable fact that Hu/Liu went to court to defend the legitimate 4/15 Bylaws voting result. The 4 board members must stop spreading lies that Hu/Liu did it for their own personal benefit. In contrast to Hu/Liu's lawsuit, the 4 board members' lawsuit against Hu/Liu seeks nothing but personal destruction and preservation of their own power. They could not even defend their own "Special Voting Committee"s behavior and had to admit that their voting result was tainted. Their request to have a court observed re-vote of the "2012 Bylaws" is totally pointless. Anyone following the Bylaws amendment process knows that unless the "Limited Voting" is taken out, the "2012 Bylaws" would never be able to pass, no matter how many times it's voted. The parents at HXNY want to have a free and fair election for the Board and do not want a voting method that benefits only factions.
Although I trust the American justice system and believe that the court will ultimately make the right decisions, I certainly hope that the newly elected Principal/PC Chair team, especially Dai Yang, would break away from their past pattern of closely toeing the faction lines and help the four board members to face the facts. The four board members need to publicly admit and apologize for their wrong doings during and after the 4/15 vote and retract their numerous slandering statements against Hu/Liu. Only by doing so, we could restart the Bylaws amendment process and start a healing process for the school.

Sure enough, on election day, the admin head (Lin Li, the interim principal) was spreading flyer, supporting Lin/Yao and defaming Dai and Tian teams, in campus to disturb the election, calling people to "WRITE IN" their pair, spreading untrue accusations on the candidates. This is their definition of "fair election". She also personally brought in inch-thick proxy to prove her point.
It is already nothing new that the current administration and PC gang up against anybody standing in their way. Only "Their Choice" is the "People's Choice". Calling for "democracy" but exercising "Communism" is exactly why they demonstrate to the members.
Are we really in the States or still in China?

ReplyDeleteOur family has been with HXNY for 3 years(My child is in 2nd grade MLP). Yao DaChun is our class parent. The individual candidate Liang Tao's child is also in this class. My child had exactly same experience on studying Chinese as his child. We have talked to previous Admin teams / Board members for several times and seems they have no motivations to do any reforms. We would have had transferred our child to other school who can offer other choices, had we not been approached by Hu Dapeng/Liu Yawen with the ideas of education reform. That was the only reason we voted for them last year and I think they have kept their promises and they did real good things for the future of the school.
We voted for LinJun/Yao Dachun this time, I know big percentage of parents of my child's class voted for them too, even knowing their name is not on the ballot. I think many of us are tired of the politic fights in this school, we make judgments by what we think is the best for our children.
I'd ask how the new members voices can be heard loudly and how can new members more actively involved in the important decision making process of this school.
Your voice has already been heard, please don't stir up another mess and you can get involved to become the class parents and join the PTA. Don't write here anonymously. Please call the new Principal/PC chair to volunteer. It is not good to write blog for Liang Tao/Jun Lin/Yao Dachun/Hu Dapeng/Liu Yawen such as the one above. Because if all you want is to continue to have Ma Liping and get involved, there is more positive way of doing it instead writing anonymously. Dear Parent Council and Board of Directors:
DeleteWe represent 185 members of HXNY who have signed a petition to impeach and remove the Chairman of the Board, Li Zhu. First of all, we would like to state that our solicitation of this petition from the membership was self-organized by the members, unrelated to any of our official volunteer work done for the school, and was not directed by nor involved with Principal Hu, PC Chair Liu or any of the minority board members, Minghui Lei, Shengjing Li and Ching Zhou. Since the number of petitions has satisfied the twenty percent (20%) required to call for a special meeting of all members, we request such meeting be held on June 24th to vote on the impeachment and removal of Li Zhu from the board of directors. We request the vice chairmen of the Parent Council send out a meeting notice to all members today, June 14th, which shall satisfy the notice requirement under New York State Non-For-Profit Law Section 605(a).
Our petition to impeach and remove Li Zhu is due to the following reasons:
1. Earlier in the school year, recognizing members' desire to improve education quality at our school and to enhance children's interest in learning Chinese language, the school Admin team led by Principal Hu actively worked with teachers, parents and other education experts seeking to improve education quality of our school. Li Zhu disassociated himself with such activities and when Principal Hu called for a vote of the membership to direct the school to implement education reform, Li Zhu led the majority board members in an effort to stop the vote. In the end, the members voted overwhelmingly for the education reform (342 to 76 in favor). This is a vote with the highest voter turnout in the history of HXNY.
2. Li Zhu and three other board members formed their own illegitimate committee to conduct a separate vote on the proposed new bylaws in direct contradiction of then existing bylaws. Principal Hu and PC Chair Liu, seeking to avoid court intervention, presented an opinion letter from an outside law firm that concluded Li Zhu and three other board members' actions exceed their authorities. Li Zhu (i) ignored the opinion letter and the voting results of the legitimate vote of the school members, (ii) conducted a separate vote on the proposed bylaws, (iii) even concocted false board minutes stating the Board of Directors accepted the results of their illegitimate separate vote and threw the school's operative bylaws into question. This is a wanton disregard for the law.
3. After a legal action was filed against Li Zhu and three other board members by Principal Hu and PC Chair Liu to have the court declare the operative bylaws of the school, Li Zhu and three other board members frantically asked members to sign a petition to withdraw the lawsuit. Unbeknown to the members, the petition was used to file another action against others and to demand payments of legal fees ($50,000) from the school. Li Zhu's answer and counter-claims submitted to the court contain numerous material false statements that contradict with the school records.
4. Last Sunday, Li Zhu and three other board members colluded and vetoed the most qualified principal and PC chair candidates, Dr. Jun Lin and Dr. Dachun Yao, for the next school year in a retaliation against the school Admin team to achieve personal vendetta against Principal Hu and his education reform. Dr. Lin is a professional educator and current Associate Dean who initiated the education reform at our school and led the education assessment effort. Li Zhu gave no consideration to the school's long term interest and acted in direct violation of the TRO against him issued by the court that ordering Li Zhu to stop breaching his fiduciary duties to the school.
We believe the school will function better without Li Zhu and his disruptive actions. We urge the members to come to vote on June 24th to impeach and remove Li Zhu.

朱立滥用董事长权力，史无前例地把人身攻击的语言用到董事会文件里。董事会文件应该是严肃的，没有大量取证调查作依据，董事会或者董事长无权随意指责任何学校成员。而朱立却在董事会文件中用”谎言和恐吓“，”肮脏的政治手段“等语言攻击校长，董事会文件写得像go-hxny里的匿名谩骂。还把此类语言写入法庭文件中。这次对候选人的评论，也是毫无事实根据的指控。或许朱立在go-hxny搞匿名攻击习惯了，不觉得这样说有什么问题。但是作为董事长把这种语言引入董事会文件中，在HXNY历史上还是第一次。
7/8弹劾朱立是校章赋予家长们的权利。如果让朱立继续呆在董事会里，学校下学期还得继续乱。只有把他请出董事会，才能保证下学期校方能够切实执行3/18教改方案，保证下学期修改校章的工作能顺利进行，让学校走上安定团结的道路。

ReplyDeleteThe 185 members who petitioned to impeach and remove Li Zhu have postponed the all members’ meeting to July 8th (see notification letter below). Per impeachment organizers' request, the Parent Council hereby notify all members the changed date and time of such all members’ meeting:

Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Place: WCC CLA 200
Purpose: All members’ vote to impeach and remove the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Li Zhu
Voting will be conducted on the same day. Meeting notification will be mailed to all members.

At the request of some members to receive written notification of the impeachment by mail and in order to give enough time to mail the notification, we hereby delay the all members' meeting for impeachment and removal of Li Zhu from the Board of Directors to Sunday, July 8th, 10am-12pm. The location will be changed to Room CLA 200. We request PTA send email notice to all members to notify the changes in meeting time and location followed by sending meeting notification by mail.

- We have 185 members who signed the petition to impeach Zhu Li. The number is bigger than the votes Dai Yang was getting. So I would question the phrase “small portion” you used in your email.
- Second I want to reiterate why we impeach Zhu Li. 1) Zhu Li started an illegal vote which led to the law suit. 2) Zhu Li sued HXNY and tried to force our school to pay for his legal bill. 3) Zhu Li deprived parents right and screened out the most qualified candidates who got 147 write-in votes. we believe what Zhu Li did is inappropriate, damaging to our school, and he should be removed from his post as the Chairman of Board.
- As you see above, we have reasons to impeach Zhu Li and “hatred” is not one of them. Did we behave like we have “hatred”? I don’t think so. We do our job, we volunteer in school activities, we support our teachers and children, we contribute to education reform, we voice our opinions, and we take actions to improve our school. You cannot label “hatred” whenever someone disagrees with you.
- So what should you do next? First of all, calm down. Then start calling parents to see if they are okay to contribute their tuition to pay for Zhu Li’s legal bill, if they are okay to let Zhu Li decide the next principal for them, if they are okay to let Zhu Li ignore the bylaw whenever the result does not go his way, and if they are okay to let Zhu Li decide the text books for their children. You should work very hard on this because it will be very embarrassing if even a “small portion” can win a 2/3 majority.
- I believe “ emotional” is a more accurate word than “hatred” here. You should really sit back and read the following email thread and your own email. You can see who is more “emotional”.

If dropping the impeachment of Zhu Li is the condition for the two principal candidates to organize more volunteers for the field day, then we parents already lost hope for next year.
If there is not enough volunteers and those with their own children participating the track and field day are not willing to be volunteers, then for the safety of the children, we should just cancel the track and field game. I think parents will understand that, under the current environment of the school, cancelling the event for lack of volunteers is a sensible thing to do.

Having been worked for my kids's school PTA for years. I understand how hard it is for Dachun when there is not enough volunteer for the Track and Field Day and it is officially our last day. I also feel worried about the safety of the kids.
Unfortunately, under the current situation, I failed to get any volunteer from my class. I sincerely hope, as most of HXCS parents do, that we can see the hope and future on this last day of school. We want to see the two parties drop any law suits against each other and work together on our last event.
So Hu xiaozhang, please could you drop the impeachment of Zhuli and my husband and I are both willing to persuade two principle candidates to organize more volunteers for the field day. Please give our parents hope!

Dear XX,
I wish to believe that you forwarded this email to impeach a legitimate Board Chairman out of your strong personal beliefs and your best possible intentions for the school. I respect your opinion. However, I must disagree with such an extreme action at this critical time in our school. I hope you do not take the following personally.
I, for one, believe that what Li Zhu and others did was to follow the 2010 Bylaws. They were forced by Dapeng Hu/Yawen Liu's lawsuit to comply with this old version the Bylaws. They also stated multiple times that they support the proposed education reforms, including textbook diversification. Impeaching Li Zhu would not alleviate any of the grievances in the letter you forwarded.
If you think the root cause of the current crisis was the Board, there was a much better way to get rid of all the Board members, including Li Zhu, and prevent unfair automatic entry into the Board without an election, by implementing the new Bylaws. I hope you have voted for the new Bylaws. You also know what has happened to the new Bylaws...
The current unfortunate dispute has entered legal proceedings initiated by Dapeng Hu/Yawen Liu. In my opinion, it would be best for our school to follow the Court order to have an obstruction-free and orderly election this coming Sunday, June 17. Stirring up an impeachment not only will interfere with the legally scheduled election on Sunday but also will further jeopardize the future of our school.
If this impeachment were successful, it would only escalate the dispute rather than diffuse the tension in our school. There would be no complete list of legally elected school leaders for next year. Our children might not even have a Chinese school to go to... Who will lose and who will gain?
In summary, I am strongly against impeaching Li Zhu at this critical time of our school. If parents are unhappy with the Board, there is a better way to voice our opinions and exercise our rights by electing the entire Board. Unfortunately, this Board election is temporarily blocked by the Hu/Liu lawsuit...

usually a little over 100 kids attend the games, about 40kids have registered, I'm sure many kids will register on-site. can you send an email to class parents and ask for at least one volunteer per class? there are 4 volunteers registered online. see details here.

The 4 board members must stop spreading lies that Hu/Liu did it for their own personal benefit. In contrast to Hu/Liu's lawsuit, the 4 board members' lawsuit against Hu/Liu seeks nothing but personal destruction and preservation of their own power. They could not even defend their own "Special Voting Committee"s behavior and had to admit that their voting result was tainted. Their request to have a court observed re-vote of the "2012 Bylaws" is totally pointless. Anyone following the Bylaws amendment process knows that unless the "Limited Voting" is taken out, the "2012 Bylaws" would never be able to pass, no matter how many times it's voted. The parents at HXNY want to have a free and fair election for the Board and do not want a voting method that benefits only factions.

Did you read the court paper?Hu/Liu went to the court because they think the passing of the new bylaw caused them harm because they can't go into the Board automatically. Not sure it is your English is bad or your brain is retarded. But you are just indect like Hu/Liu.
