  2. What would happen if the impeachment on July 17 was successful?
    1) Five Board members would step down and DaLaos like Li JianRen would take over the Board.
    2) The elected school administration/PTA team lead by Dapeng and Yawen will still in power according to the bylaw.
    3) Another administration/PTA team would be installed illegally by ZZ without election. There would be continued chaos and legal actions.
    4) There would be another election in September you will have to participate if ZZ had their way. Unfortunately this means someone from ZZ’s camp may hog your phone line until 2am.
    5) ZZ’s focus is to create chaos and not school so there is no way the illegal administration can start school in September.
    6) The momentum of the elected school administration/PTA lead by HL would be disrupted and the school could be delayed.
The last thing we parents want to see is that our children have no class to attend. Please support the elected administration/PTA team and vote no to impeachment on July 17.

  4. **Why did the Board withdrew the case against Wang Yuan and Cai Xiaodi**

The Board started the legal action believing that was the only way to
convince Wang Yuan and Cai Xiaodi to follow the rule of law. Even with anonymous life threats and threats to abduct a Board member’s child, the Board has never given up seeking a peaceful resolution and was in constant discussion with “ex-HYNY board members and current admin and PTA leaders”.

However, the Board did not scarify HXNY members’ interest to give in to a small group of people’s special interest. After all other resorts failed, the Board had no choice but to take the legal action. Wang Yuan and Cai Xiaodi brought the law suit to themselves. People behind them like Sheng ZhaoLing, Zheng Gutuan, Zheng Qi, Huang Ying, Zhu Li, He Lida, and even Wang Yuan's wife Li XiaoMei were all responsible of pushing Wang Yuan and Cai Xiaodi into the corner.

Even after the Board took the legal action, they continued to communicate with Wang Yuan and Cai Xiaodi looking for compromises. Their goal was to find a solution so that HXNY can move on and be a better school. Since then, Wang Yuan has publicly admitted the wrong doings, Cai Xiaodi stopped the illegal impeachment process, and the new administration team has been elected. The Board and its legal team believed that their goal was achieved and that HXNY was on the right track. So they decided to withdraw the case.

The fact the Board withdrew the case does not mean that the Board was afraid to go to court. Ironiclly it was Cai Xiaodi who publish an open letter to beg the Board to close the case instead of temporarily withdrew it. Tell me who is afraid to lose on the court. Everything the Board has done so far was not
only legal but also for the interest of HXNY and will endure the test of voting, law, or time. The Board's kindness should not be mistaken as weakness.

Obviously, the Board was too simple and too naive to believe anything Wang Yuan and Cai Xiaodi promised. They turned around and started another around of impeachment. This time they are much smarter. They followed the New York nonprofit law which overrides the bylaw and sent out the notice 10 days ahead of the impeachment vote date. They also put four parents in the harms way and hide behind "a group of parents". Shame on you, Zheng Qi, Zheng Gutuan, and Sheng ZhaoLing. You call the shots behind the scene and all your followers are falling for you.

  5. Dear fellow HXNY parents,

With your support and hard work by many volunteers, we are glad to report to you the progress we have made so far to move our beloved school forward. As always we’d like to hear from your so please feel free to email or call us for any questions or concerns.

    1. We have renewed the contract with WCC for 2011-2012 school year and secured the facilities for our school!

    2. The on-line registration is going on smoothly. Through ww.hxnycs.org we have more than 110 students registered so far. Because registration information is the base for many preparation activities such as ordering books, allocating teachers, etc, we encourage all parents to register as early as possible. The experimental classes are being filled up quickly. Please note that the tuition is flat as last year and we are proposing to reduce tuition for teachers’ families.

    3. We are evaluating alternative text books for the experiment classes, to give our students more choices. While most classes will continue to use Standard Chinese, the team has reviewed four sets of textbooks for the experiment classes, including "马立平中文教材", "美洲华语", "轻松学中文",and "新启蒙汉语". The team has decided to recommend "马立平中文教材" as the textbooks for the experimental classes from G1 to G3, for its unique Chinese-teaching philosophy - 先认后写,多认少写,先读后写. We are still evaluating the textbooks to be used for the experimental classes from G4 to G6, and we welcome parents' inputs. Please send your suggestions to us.

    4. We strongly support and are actively promoting bylaw reforms. We proposed to eliminate the system for Principal/PTA Chair to automatically go to the board. We think that Board members should be directly elected by members and we call to increase the size of the Board. We suggest establishing a bylaw amendment working group to collect members’ ideas and opinions. In the mean while, we encourage you to send us your ideas and thoughts.

    5. We are very encouraged that many teachers have decided to continue to serve the school. We expect more to make the commitment later. Pending board approval, we plan to streamline teachers’ compensation mechanism so that no teachers get worse off compared to last year even if the class size is reduced. We encourage and will provide reasonable financial support for teachers to get state certification. In addition, we will establish a comprehensive and transparent education quality evaluation process so that good teachers can be rewarded more accordingly. Finally, pending board approval, the school will offer a substantial discount on annual tuition to teachers’ families;

    6. Transparency and communication are the keys. As we promised in the election campaign, we want to improve the transparency and facilitate the dialogue between members and various school leader teams. Going forward we will send a regular news letter for any developments and progress of our school. We are also enhancing our finance policies to add more transparency to our finance and budget process.

Once again, our fellow parents, we share with all of you one common goal: to move our school forward. To achieve this, we need everyone to put aside their differences, and reunite under our common interests. We need your support and our children deserve the best Chinese education they can possibly get.

  6. Dear HXNY Members:

I’d like to take this opportunity to clarify one detail regarding Ms Xiaodi Cai’s claim that the five board members were intentionally using an old bylaws to obtain the court injunction. The court injunction clearly stated that the notice of the meeting was not distributed 10 days in advance, as required by the New York State Non-for-Profit Corporation Law. Regardless what the requirements in the old bylaw or the new bylaw, HXNY needs to follow the New York State Not-for-Profit Corporation law requirements.

    Shengjing Li

On behalf of Five Board Directors
